The Kinesis Decarbonisation Platform forms a complete emissions inventory using the best available data. The key details from your data formats are extracted into structured Activity Sources, these activity sources are turned into an Activity Stream representing your activity over time using an Activity Model.

Activity Models represent discrete auditable methods that are able to provide a complete, always available inventory regardless of unobtainable activity data or where data access lags behind the required reporting frequency. We use the best available data through a combination of direct collection and estimations where primary activity data isn’t available. The more information that is provided, the more accurate the emissions inventory becomes.

The Activity Streams are used to present a disclosable emissions profile through a Scenario, that defines an exact set of Activity Streams, Emission Factors and Future Activity Adjustments that provide a complete time-series of quantified business activity and corresponding emissions. These time-series can be aggregated by dimensions like GHG Protocol scopes and categories, defined business entities like Buildings, Business Units or Products, into presentable disclosures. These disclosures are audit ready, with well defined methods.

This document aims to clearly document those methods for customers and assurance providers alike by defining the Activity Models and their mechanisms.
