Many of our customers have just been through their annual reporting and assurance. This month's release adds features to support that process: sharing a disclosure directly with your auditor, keeping the figures under review fixed while your inventory carries on as normal, and two new disclosures — one for the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) scheme and one for energy consumption.

Getting a disclosure in front of an auditor used to mean exporting files and sending them around, or giving someone outside your organisation access to your inventory. You can now share a single disclosure directly by email.

Share it from the disclosure's toolbar, and your auditor sees it in the same disclosure layout, with the option to export it.

Access is view only. Your auditor can't open your inventory, change the disclosure's settings or recalculate its numbers, so what they review is exactly what you shared.

The Share window lists everyone who has access, along with pending and expired shares. You can resend or cancel a pending share, and remove someone's access at any time. A share that isn't accepted within 7 days expires, and resending it starts the 7 days again. Deleting a disclosure cancels its shares. Sharing is available to anyone with sharing rights on the inventory.

Assurance needs the numbers to hold still; your inventory doesn't. Pin a scenario to the current version of your inventory, and to the current versions of its emission factor libraries, and any disclosure built on that scenario keeps showing exactly those figures for as long as the review takes. Meanwhile your team carries on as normal — new bills arrive, activity streams get corrected, new data is added — without disturbing what your auditor is looking at, and without holding up your inventory until assurance is finished.

Every emissions and NGER disclosure export now includes ledger-audit.csv in its audit-trail folder, alongside the ledger and emission factor files, so the trail behind each figure travels with the disclosure without anyone having to ask for it.

If you report under NGER, there is now a disclosure built to take the transcription out of the Clean Energy Regulator's Emissions and Energy Reporting System (EERS). The inventory holds activity in whatever units arrive on your bills; the NGER disclosure turns that into what the portal asks for — per facility, one line per NGER source, with the quantity in the EERS unit, energy in GJ, and scope 1 and scope 2 emissions so you can check the portal's figures against your own.

Measured and estimated quantities sit on separate lines, so you can see how much of each facility's figure rests on estimates.

The NGER disclosure is enabled per inventory. If you'd like access to it, contact your account manager.

Attach the bulk-load extract you download from EERS — one file or several — and Kinesis fills in the quantities it can match and returns the same file, ready to upload, in the disclosure export. Anything it can't match is left blank and listed on the health page for you to complete.

If a facility in your file doesn't match one of your buildings yet, you'll be asked which building it is. Your answer is recorded on that building, which also includes it in the report, so later files with the same facility name match on their own.

Alongside the facilities report, each NGER disclosure has a Methodology page listing the emission factors and energy contents used in the report, and a health page showing which facilities and buildings are included, any facility tags that need fixing, activity the NGER rules can't place, and any gaps in each attached EERS file.

The export is a workbook with Cover, Facilities, Coverage, By State, Emission Factors, Energy Contents, Monthly, Activity Streams, Sites and Energy Production sheets, plus the row-level audit-trail files. Values are held at full precision and formatted for reading, so a column you add up in the workbook matches the total it reports. Where every emission factor behind a line that records an NGER method records the same one, the workbook states it; otherwise the cell is left blank rather than guessed.

The new energy disclosure states your organisation's energy consumption in MWh, split into renewable and non-renewable energy, for your whole inventory and for each building with activity in the period, with activity not attributed to a building shown separately. Each group sits beside its emissions, with offsets shown separately where you have them, so energy and emissions can be read together.

It comes with Disclosure health, Evidence and Activity coverage pages. The export includes a PDF report and workbook, and an energy.csv file with one row per ledger row, showing the energy content applied and a reason wherever energy is missing, so any figure can be traced back to the rows behind it.

Energy is calculated from an energy content on each emission factor, recorded and versioned in the same place as the factor itself. The Kinesis emission factor libraries carry energy contents for Australian mainland and New Zealand electricity and gas, and for common Australian fuels. Where activity counts as energy but has no conversion yet, Disclosure health says so, naming the activity, measure class and unit, rather than quietly leaving it out of the total.
