There are different ways that we can guide you in constructing your pathway to net-zero. Here are some of them.

A good starting point

When you start creating a pathway, you’ll notice that the inputs for each of the intervention areas are already pre-filled with some values:

These starting inputs reflect the 2021 NSW Government policy settings as well as expected technology adoption, and provides a good starting point from which you can review and update to reflect your local ambitions and programs.

For more information about the 2021 Policy Settings, check out the Greater Sydney Pathways to Net-zero Emissions report below.

Some examples

We understand that each city has its unique realities and ambitions, which is why you can adjust each of the inputs to the local intervention areas in Pathways.

But for those who need more guidance, the analysis that we did for the Greater Sydney Pathways to Net-zero Emissions report presents three alternative pathways — 2021 Policy Settings, Managed Future Transition, and Accelerated Future Transition. These are based on desktop research by Kinesis and input from NSW State Government agencies. You can use these as reference for what a conservative, intermediate, or aggressive pathway could look like. The assumptions are documented in the Greater Sydney Pathways to Net-zero Emissions report below and provide some guidance on what is expected to be achievable across each intervention area.
