We are pleased to introduce a new approach to processing your data with Kinesis. Our data tier system helps categorise sources, aiming to provide you with better numbers, faster.

Unlock the Power of Better Numbers, Faster

Imagine having data that not only accurately reflects your company's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions but also empowers your decision-making for decarbonisation. Whether engaging suppliers to meet GHG reduction targets or identifying hot spots in scope 3 activities, our system guides you to the best data sources tailored to your needs.

Why Quality Matters

At Kinesis, high-quality data is the foundation for informed decisions and meaningful sustainability efforts. Our focus on data quality helps you:

  • Obtain accurate and reliable GHG emissions data

  • Make confident decisions in decarbonisation strategies

  • Improve reporting capabilities and meet regulatory requirements

  • Identify opportunities for sustainability improvements

Criteria for High-Quality Data

Our data tier system is built on four key pillars that define high-quality data:

  • Credibility: Trusted, verified sources like standard tax invoices from utility companies.

  • Reliability: Consistently available data integrated into business processes.

  • Standalone Quality: Comprehensive and self-explanatory sources that require no additional context.

  • Consistency: Stable data definitions and methods over time for reliable trend analysis.

Explore Our Data Tiers

To support your journey towards better data, we've categorised activity sources into four tiers:

  • Tier 1: "Well-Known" Data – Credible, reliable, standalone, and consistent. Example: Standard tax invoices.

  • Tier 2: "Regular" Data – Credible and regularly available, though not always standalone. Example: Monthly supplier reports.

  • Tier 3: "Irregular" Data – Bespoke, infrequent sources requiring background knowledge. Example: Ad hoc system exports.

  • Tier 4: "New Source" Data – Unknown or unsupported sources needing additional integration. Example: New customer-made reports or surveys.

Our Commitment to Timely Processing

Our service levels are designed to enhance your experience and maximise the value we deliver. We've optimised our processes to provide faster turnaround times for high-quality data sources—those that are credible, reliable, standalone, and consistent. By working with these preferred formats, we can deliver better numbers, faster, ultimately supporting your business goals more effectively. This approach allows us to streamline our operations and pass the benefits directly to you, ensuring you receive the most accurate and timely data possible.

While we commit to processing data in a timely manner, it's important to note that the actual processing time can be influenced by the format in which these sources are provided. For example, electricity bills from different retailers like Origin Energy, Shell Energy, and Meridian may all be tier 1 sources, but they come in different formats. Each format may require specific procedures to extract and interpret the information accurately, which can affect processing times.

We strive to meet the following service levels to support your business needs:

  • Tier 1: 95% processed within 15 minutes.

  • Tier 2: 95% processed within 2 business days.

  • Tier 3: 90% processed within 20 business days.

  • Tier 4: 90% processed within 20 business days after collaborating with you to define the goals and context of the source. This ensures accurate interpretation and processing.

While a tier 1 classification indicates a high-quality source, it does not automatically guarantee processing within 15 minutes. Each new format undergoes an operationalisation process to ensure that data can be processed more efficiently and with greater confidence over time. This process involves developing tailored procedures for interpreting and extracting information, taking into account variations in how data attributes are labelled and positioned.

If we encounter delays, our alert system will notify our team, and we'll communicate any issues and updated timelines to you.

Enhancing Your Data Processing Efficiency

Our precision and speed in data processing support your sustainability goals. With our new data tier system, expect improved data quality and efficiency, driving impactful change in your sustainability efforts.
