The Analysis section provides a flexible interface for interrogating City data. These selections allow the user to customise their analysis in many different ways. Exploration of the data can be broken into four key steps:

Selecting Data for your Scatter Plot

To start creating your scatter plot, go to Analysis > Explore and click the + New button at the bottom of the menu.

Next, click on Data Types under Selections and choose the data type you want displayed on the vertical axis of your scatter plot. Then click on Intensity Metric just below Data Types and choose the data type you want displayed on the horizontal axis of your scatter plot.

For example, if you want to see the relationship between energy consumption and floorspace, the selection might look like this:

Complete the rest of your selection for periods, areas, and sectors.

Change View Type to Scatter Plot

Scroll down the menu to the Options section and select the scatter chart icon as View Type and select how you would like to group your data. The Primary Grouping  sets the different points in the scatter plot, and the Secondary Grouping adds another layer of grouping by colour.

Going back to our example, if you want to see the energy consumption vs. floorspace of different buildings:

Your scatter plot might look like this:

Add a Line of Best Fit

Sometimes, you might want to visualise the trend of your data. The option to add a line of best fit can be found on the upper right corner of the chart.
